Karl Skinner and his wife Cindy were used by God to begin the ministry of Battlefield Baptist Church in the fall of 1980. Early on, the Church began meeting in a local Seventh Day Adventist Church building until October of 1982. The congregation then purchased the Huntingwood Motel property. In May of the following year, the church broke ground on a new auditorium. After the building was completed, a tornado tore off the roof, and the membership voted at that time to enlarge the building to its present size.

After 33 years of service to The Lord at Battlefield, Pastor & Mrs. Skinner retired in late 2013. In November of that same year, the people of Battlefield voted nearly unanimously to call Greg Corcoran to serve as their senior pastor. Excited about the future and with building space unfinished, the church moved forward at the end of 2014 to finish the remaining space, which was dedicated in November of 2015 for Children's and Youth Ministry.

Looking to better meet the needs of their current congregation, Battlefield completed a major renovation project on their lobby, steeple tower, coffee area, and sanctuary in early 2021. Battlefield continues to strive toward the goal of being a great place to fall more in love with God while falling more in love with His Word and one another.
The Lord has abundantly blessed over the years, and we give Him the praise for it all.
