POSITION TITLE: Children’s Pastor or Director

REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor

POSITION STATUS: Full-time

POSITION SUMMARY: Create, manage, and direct all aspects of Children’s Ministry {K-5 through 6th Grade with some occasional overlap to Pre-school & Nursery Age} which includes things such as: Sunday School and Children’s Worship, AWANA {during the school year} & Mid-Week Activities {summertime}, Kid’s Choir, UPWARD Sports Ministry, Special Events & Activities, Kid’s Camp & or VBS.


GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION

The Children’s Pastor or Director will:

  • Possess high-energy, be self-motivated, have solid leadership, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Believe in the importance of a vibrant Children’s Ministry as a means not only to serve God, but as a way to reach Children and their families with The Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Have the education, knowledge, experience, and skills to serve as a Children’s Pastor or Director in a local New Testament Church setting
  • Enjoy, and be capable of leading and working well with children, volunteers, staff members, and parents to manage the Children’s Ministry as a whole
  • Be able to lead under pressure – which means being flexible and able to make changes, corrections, and solve problems quickly as needed
  • Agree to criminal and personal background checks
  • Abide by all personnel policies of Battlefield Baptist Church

  • Be in agreement with the Church’s Constitution & By-laws and Doctrinal Positions
  • Practice Biblical Stewardship in Every Area of Life

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

The Children’s Pastor or Director will:

  • Recruit, train, and lead all workers within the Children’s Ministry
  • Lead and manage all aspects of Children’s Ministry
  • Prepare and manage budget for Children’s Ministry
  • Encourage and support all workers to include the planning and training of such
  • Obtain, edit {when necessary}, and manage the distribution of curriculum, crafts, and supplies for Children’s Ministry
  • Schedule and coordinate the placement of ministry volunteer leaders and communicate with all leaders on a regular basis
  • Plan and support Children’s Special Events including marketing efforts— website, social media, print materials, etc.
  • Participate in church staff meetings as directed
  • Participate in church-wide outreach ministries {home visits, hospital visits, etc.} as directed
  • Communicate Children’s Ministry goals, objectives, and activities to the entire church family on a regular basis
  • Perform other duties to assist the overall Ministry Team in order to accomplish its mission as directed
  • Be personally growing spiritually and professionally; willing to learn and receive instruction
  • Preach, teach Bible studies, and speak {in general} as needed outside of Children’s Ministry
  • Assist in the Leadership Team for the UPWARD Sports Ministry as necessary

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS

The Children’s Pastor or Director will:

  • Have a minimum of four years of experience within Children’s Ministry and/or Management of Children’s Ministry Programs {Required}
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree {Ministry Related is Preferred}
  • Hold basic computer skills and have a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office software


COMPENSATION

The Children’s Pastor or Director will receive:

  • Salary commensurate with skills and experience level

         - 0-5 years = 2 weeks {Only One Sunday a year}

         - 6-10 years = 3 weeks

         - 11+ years = 4 weeks

         - Labor Day
